Privacy policy of this website
What this covers
This privacy policy applies to this website only – that is, to the pages you are currently viewing in your browser.
The processing of personal data inside the Zoo Eberswalde app is covered by a separate privacy policy, which you will find here: Privacy policy & terms of use of the app.
This website is purely informational. It presents the app and links to the app stores and to legal information. There are no user accounts, no forms and no ordering or booking process.
This is a translation for your convenience. In case of doubt, the German version of this privacy policy applies.
1. Controller
This website is published and operated by Technische Hochschule Wildau. The sole controller for the processing of personal data in connection with this website within the meaning of Art. 4(7) GDPR is therefore:
Please note the difference from the app: this website merely presents the Zoo Eberswalde app. The app itself is published jointly by the town of Eberswalde (for Zoologischer Garten Eberswalde) and Technische Hochschule Wildau; for the processing of personal data within the app, the two are joint controllers pursuant to Art. 26 GDPR. Details can be found in the privacy policy of the app.
2. Data protection officer
The President of Technische Hochschule Wildau has appointed the following data protection officer pursuant to Art. 37 GDPR:
You may contact him directly and in confidence at any time with questions or concerns regarding data protection.
3. Visiting the website and server log files
Each time you access this website, your browser transmits data to the server hosting it for technical reasons. This data is recorded in what are known as server log files.
Data processed:
- IP address of the requesting device
- date and time of access
- name and URL of the file requested
- amount of data transferred and confirmation of successful retrieval (HTTP status code)
- browser type and version, operating system and interface
- the page previously visited (referrer), if your browser transmits it
Purpose: The data is processed in order to deliver the requested content, to ensure the technical operation and stability of the website, to safeguard IT security and to detect and resolve faults.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(e) GDPR in conjunction with the applicable state legislation, as providing this information service is in the public interest and is carried out in the exercise of official authority. Where processing is necessary in an individual case to ensure IT security and no public law basis applies, we rely on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
Retention period: The log files are rotated daily and then deleted automatically: access logs after no more than 14 days, error logs after 7 days. This data is not combined with other data sources and is not evaluated for advertising or analytics purposes.
Recipients: The website runs on systems operated by Technische Hochschule Wildau. Only those members of university staff tasked with running it have access to the log data. No external processor is involved, and the data is not passed on to any third parties.
4. Cookies, tracking and third-party content
This website deliberately uses as little technology as possible:
- No cookies. No cookies are set. Nor do we use comparable techniques to store information on your device (such as local storage, session storage or fingerprinting).
- No tracking, no audience measurement. No analytics, statistics or advertising services are integrated.
- No third-party content. Every part of these pages – stylesheets, scripts, images, icons – is served exclusively from our own server. In particular, no external fonts (such as Google Fonts), no content delivery networks and no embedded maps, videos or social media content are used.
- No forms. The website contains no input or contact forms. No data is collected from you that you do not actively send yourself.
Simply visiting this website therefore transmits no personal data to third parties.
Because no information is stored on or read from your device, no consent pursuant to Section 25(1) TDDDG is required for this website. This is why you will not find a cookie notice here.
A small script served from our own server merely handles display effects while scrolling. It transmits no data and stores nothing on your device.
5. Encrypted transmission
This website is delivered over a TLS-encrypted connection (HTTPS). You can recognise this by the https:// prefix in your browser's address bar and by the padlock symbol. The encryption protects the transmitted content against access by third parties.
6. Contacting us by email
Email addresses on this website are provided as links. Clicking such a link opens the email program configured on your device. Simply visiting the website does not transmit any data to us.
Data processed: If you write to us, we process your sender address, the subject line, the content of your message and any information you provide voluntarily.
Purpose: Handling and responding to your enquiry.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(e) GDPR, where responding to your enquiry forms part of a task carried out in the public interest. If your enquiry relates to a contract or pre-contractual measures, the legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.
Retention period: Your enquiry is deleted once it has been dealt with conclusively, unless statutory retention obligations apply.
Please note that email may be transmitted unencrypted. We recommend that you do not send us confidential information by unencrypted email.
7. Links to external services
This website contains links to external services, in particular to the Apple App Store, the Google Play Store, pages of Zoologischer Garten Eberswalde and the OpenStreetMap copyright notice.
This content is not embedded; it is loaded only when you actively click the relevant link. Merely visiting our pages therefore transmits no data to these providers.
Once you follow such a link, the provider concerned processes personal data on its own responsibility, in particular your IP address. We have no influence over this processing; it is carried out solely by that provider, and only its privacy policy applies.
When you download the app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store, Apple or Google process personal data on their own responsibility, such as your account details, the time of download and device information. We receive no individual user data from the store operators.
8. No automated decision-making
No automated decision-making, including profiling within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR, takes place in connection with this website.
9. Your rights as a data subject
Unless special provisions state otherwise, you have the rights set out below. You may exercise them against the controller named under point 1 or the data protection officer named under point 2.
9.1 Access, rectification, erasure, restriction
- Under Art. 15 GDPR you have the right to obtain information about the personal data processed about you.
